Grace period for online licenses

Note:

This procedure applies to licenses verified online through TASSTA Central Licensing Server.

TASSTA proactively monitors the license expiration to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted operation of T.Lion / T.Brother servers. If the licensing server detects a violation of the license terms, you can continue to use the product as usual, without warnings or limitations.

Our service team will investigate the roots of the problem and, if necessary, will contact you to determine the best possible steps to resolve the situation. The license is deactivated only after a call and only if we have not reached an agreement.

Grace periods

Automatic transition to grace periods is activated when the connection with the TASSTA Central Licensing Server is lost for any reason. The behavior described below applies to T.Lion and T.Brother servers version 5.5.43 and later.

T.Lion / T.Brother regularly checks the license status on the TASSTA Central Licensing Server (central.tassta.com). By default, it is done every 10 minutes. If the licensing server fails 3 consecutive checks, T.Lion / T.Brother enters the grace period.

Grace period 1

T.Lion / T.Brother remains fully operational. The following message is written to the server log:

License status changed: Active -> GraceTime1

By default, the Grace period 1 lasts for 12 days. If the connectivity to the licensing server is restored, the license is immediately activated. The following message is written to the server log:

License status changed: GraceTime1 -> Active

If the licensing server is still unavailable after the expiration of Grace period 1, the grace period switches to the next stage.

Grace period 2

T.Lion / T.Brother remains fully operational. An on-screen license violation notification is displayed in each client application, and an audio message plays every time the PTT button is released.
In addition, the following message is written to the server log:

License status changed: GraceTime1 -> GraceTime2

By default, the Grace period 2 lasts for 12 days. If the connectivity to the licensing server is restored, the license is immediately activated and all notifications are removed. The following message is written to the server log:

License status changed: GraceTime2 -> Active

License expiry

If the licensing server is still unavailable after the expiration of Grace period 2, the license is deactivated. By default, it happens 24 days after 3 unsuccessful license checks (Grace period 1 + Grace period 2).

Important:

All communication services are stopped and all clients are disconnected.

The following message is written to the server log:

License status changed: GraceTime2 -> NotActive

To reactivate the license, restore connection to the license server. If the problem persists, check the Troubleshooting section or contact TASSTA service team for support.

Troubleshooting

Important:

Do not restart T.Lion / T.Brother server during the grace period! If the connection to the license server has not yet been reestablished, this will result in the premature termination of all grace periods and the immediate deactivation of the license.

  • Make sure that the outbound connection to port 55555 on central.tassta.com (116.203.164.16:55555) and central1.tassta.com (88.99.84.2:55555) is not blocked by network rules.
  • Confirm that T.Brother server is not active and the time allocated for it is not used up. Contact TASSTA service team for support.
  • Check details in server logs with the command log-server.
